It’s safe to say Ford knows how to please Mustang enthusiasts, as for the first time since 2013, the ultimate iteration of the American muscle car will be offered as a convertible. The last model to receive such treatment was the Shelby GT500.

The Dark Horse SC is all about performance, just like the Mach 1, GT500, and GT350 before it. On the track, a fixed roof provides better weight distribution and, as a result, leads to better performance. It’s easy to understand why the American automaker has focused its efforts on the fixed-roof version over the past 13 years.
Nevertheless, let’s face it, very few Mustang enthusiasts are actually going to push their cars to the limit on a racetrack. Most would much rather cruise around with the top down and fully enjoy everything their car has to offer. That’s why adding a convertible version makes perfect sense for the Mustang Dark Horse SC. According to Ford, this new variant of the American muscle car delivers the “ultimate sense of freedom.”
The arrival of the Mustang Dark Horse SC Convertible also brings a new exterior color. It is called Precision Purple, as showcased on the car used to unveil this new variant.
Expected to Be Popular
You don’t need a crystal ball to figure out that the Mustang Dark Horse SC Convertible is likely to be very popular when it hits the market. Order books will open this fall, with the first deliveries scheduled for early 2027. Pricing has yet to be announced, but we can expect an increase of a few thousand dollars, as is the case with other Mustang variants that are available in both fastback and convertible configurations.
